In recent years, Laser TV has rapid development. Based on three primary color laser as light source, Laser TV controls laser images projected onto the screen using the television signal. However, scanning and projection Laser TV are too big, too costly to walk into the family, and they're not conducive to industrialize. Therefore, demand for Laser flat-panel TV has increased. Laser flat-panel TV concentrates the advantages of Laser TV and LCD, LED TV, which includes not only the wide color gamut, brilliant screen, but also small size, low power consumption. Laser flat-panel TV becomes the future development direction. Driven by the laser TV, color management algorithms have also great development. On the LCD era, the core technologies are controlled by foreigners. So we should grasp the intellectual property rights in the core areas on laser television era. Purpose of this study is embedding color management algorithms in ASIC chips, designing special chips for laser display, and laying the foundation for the development of Laser flat-panel TV.In this paper, the development of Laser TV at home and abroad and the status of color management chip design are briefly introduced. Then flat-panel TV's principle and advantages, the basic principles of color management, as well as optimization of real-time color mapping algorithms are described in detail. The paper focuses on the hardware implementation of each module in color space mapping process with the pipelined approach and Verilog HDL. And the simulation waveform and FPGA implementation are given by simulation and hardware platform. On this basis, the paper actively studies back-end chip design process, further designes suitable special chips for laser display. The study of this issue has made a positive exploration about more complex structure and powerful ASIC for Laser flat-panel TV in the future, and provided a reference to IC design which contains image processing and color management in one chip.
