With the development of enterprise information, the internal data models are upgraded, constantly in oil area. Accordingly, new database must be changed and those applications must be changed too. Because of these factors, it must result in serious data exchange issues that exist between old and new data models or databases, as well as different business databases brought by business process. So a set of common architecture is urgent in order to achieve data exchange between arbitrary databases.Aiming at the difficulty of oil field data exchange, traditional data exchange and its shortage is analyzed. Then, ETL is brought into data exchange between relational databases, and a set of data exchange architecture based on metadata-driven is proposed. This architecture employs data exchange engine to implement data exchange. Through studying generality of data exchange, data exchange metadata based on mapping relation, the form of describing driven metadata and storage metamodel are built up, along with classification, definition and analyzing method of mapping relation. So that this framework helps to solve the generality issues, that is of data exchange. For auto-extracting driven metadata between arbitrary databases, and reducing workload of modifying data model or maintaining driven metadata caused by adding databases, a technology of finding mapping relation based on ontology mapping between heterogeneous databases and extracting driven metadata is proposed, accompanied by research on the ontology application in data exchange. The technology puts the focus on ontology mapping classification and description form, reversibility of mapping relation and transitivity of global ontology. On this basis, the description form of ontology mapping and method of finding mapping relation and extracting driven metadata are represented.On the basis of research into traditional data exchange technology, and through proposing metadata driven data exchange framework and extracting driven metadata between heterogeneous databases based on ontology, and combined with oilfield enterprise practice, a field data exchange framework and application system are built, which runs very well. Result shows the exchange frame and relevant technology are feasible, which can effectively solve oilfield data exchange issues, and provide reference to other area data exchange.
