Wireless sensor network is integration of sensor techniques, distributed information processing, MEMS, and wireless communication and so on. It has been widely used in military, industrial, agricultural and other fields, for example target tracking, intrusion detection, disaster etc. But the wireless sensor nodes have limited computing, limited storage capacity and power constraint, so the application of wireless sensor networks faces challenges in a real environment. On the other hand, in wireless sensor networks, there are some large amounts of data, high energy, and complex external environment regions, distributed sensor fiber can be introduced in these areas to form hybrid sensor networks. In this paper, we place the fiber in the middle area of rectangular wireless sensor networks. The hybrid sensor networks combine flexible advantage of wireless sensor network and broadband interference of fiber optic sensor technology. The hybrid network can effectively compensate for the wireless sensor network shortcomings. This paper introduced several common routing protocols and positioning algorithm in wireless sensor networks. Through comparing routing and location protocols the both better protocols are selected in the hybrid sensor network. The selected routing protocol is LEACH, and the improved method is dividing the rectangular sensor region into four small squares in which the optimal numbers of cluster head node were selected. The selected location algorithm is DV-hop. The rectangular region was segmented into four regions and parameters such as communication radius, the number of anchor nodes were optimized. Through the MATLAB simulation, results were compared using the original protocol and the improved protocol and the simulation result was analyzed. Finally, we summarize the work of this article and proposed the next step of the research project.
