Design And Implementation Of POS Interface-Card's Management Plane Based On Network Processor

IP (Internet Protocol) technology brings the transformation on transport network into IP-based network. POS (Packet over SDH) is a transmission technology which carries IP packet in the SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) network. With the revolution in the data communication, SDH equipment becomes faster, more safely and more intelligent than before.SDH network interface card is mainly used in the junction between the SDH network and other networks, with the process and assembly of SDH frame structure in POS interface card. In the receive direction, it resolves the messages from SDH network, strips the net payload in SDH frame and transfers the payload to core-router part for further processing. In the transmission direction, the core-router transforms the part of received messages into PPP. Then, the PPP messages are multiplexed into SDH with additional overhead before assembling the messages into packets for transmission in the SDH network.The thesis focuses on a new design of SDH network interface-card (NP chip + SDH chips). On the basis of the analysis of the scheme, the thesis divides the system into several function modules. Then the role played by the module implemented in the thesis is discussed, based on which, the submodules of it are introduced. Concentrating on the control plane of the scheme, the thesis divides the management plane into two parts. The first part is the management process on NP chip, which administers some registers. The other part is the management process of the core-router, which completes the mirror image processing drive of the POS interface card. The results presented at the end of the thesis validate the reasonability and feasibility of the design.
