In 2010, according to "San Nong" problem, central first file proposed that "advancing rural informatization, actively supporting rural telecommunication and internet infrastructure construction, improving the comprehensive rural information service system". Rural informatization construction is big drive to solve farmers' life issues and improve farmers' economic level, therefore, providing better rural information services has become government priority.In china, for rural informatization construction, the scale of rural families who can get market and technical information by the internet is only 5.1%. Therefore, from the standpoint of whole nation, rural modern network technology popularization still needs further work. How to let farmers who need agricultural information to get information services with cheaper price and authority is the key point whether agriculture can get quick development.At present, there are lots of problems for rural informatization in china, like weak foundation, late start, etc. Crop cultivation, pest control, agricultural product sales, prices and demand problems are focus for farmers. Because the price of the computer is expensive and the operation is complex, and also farmers' knowledge level and economy restrict, the popularizing rate of computers in countryside is very low. From market survey, we can get that farmers in countryside need a smart terminal with low price and simple operation.According to the urgent demand of farmers, this paper builds a system for rural informatization construction. This system includes low price, high reliability, interactive rainbow terminal and information service platform based on "cloud computing" technology. Farmers can access information service platform by the rainbow terminal, and the information service platform provides custom and delivery service for users.Hardware designs for low price, high reliability, interactive rainbow terminal. This system takes modularizing design model, and provides extensible system. It mainly includes processor module, network function module, information interactive function module, storage function module, audio function module, USB interface function module and expanding function module. According to different application situation, this system can conveniently cut or add modules, thus realizes the optimal balance for demand, function and price. In accordance with the specific demand from farmers, rainbow terminal designs special input and output ways. Users can browse or query agriculture or related information by remote controller, handwriting board or mouse, keyboard with very simple operation. This system takes television, VGA display and TFT screen as output devices, which can decrease the cost and greatly enrich users' choice.Software designs for low price, high reliability, interactive rainbow terminal. Firstly, this system completes development environment building, including bootloader transplantation and development, linux kernel custom and development, file system production, GUI transplantation and development and Konqueror/Embedded browser custom and development. Then, this system completes driver development including VGA/AV, infrared remote controller, touch screen, ADSL network. Based on the platform and drivers, this system completes online voice communication system and distance education based on streaming media.By rainbow terminal, users can easily and efficiently browse, upload and download crop cultivation, pest control, price and demand of agricultural information. The terminal takes ARM microchip with multimedia processing function and open-source linux operating system. Users can simply interact with server by web browser with low price and stable performance. Upgrading and maintenance work will be completed in backstage, and this can further reduce farmers' burden.
