The IC card is an abbreviation of the integrated circuit card, the smart card is one of the IC card, The samrt card is composed by CPU, EEPROM, RAM, ROM and the card operating system.According to the different means of communication, The smart card can be divided into two types:one type is the contactless smart card, the other is the contact smart card. Before communicating with the card reader, the contact smart card need to first contact the card's chip to the card reader's chip. According to supporting different communication protocols, The contact smart card can be divided into two types, the first is the smart cards which support T=0 protocol, and the second one is supporting the T=1 protocol. And when the contactless smart card communicate with the card reader, it do not need to connect the card chip between the card reader chip, its communication is through the radio waves. According to supporting different communication protocols, the contactless smart cards are divided into two types, one is supporting the type A protocols, and the other one is supporting the type B protocol.With the development of the smart card technology and the smart cards applicate in lots of business, the number of the application of the smart card is gradually growing in China, For example, the social security card, the bank cards, the citizen identify cards, the bus cards. And because the smart card which is used in the different business support different communication protocol, it's very difficult to used one smart card in differnet business. One card holder usually need to take multiple of cards,which brought a lot of inconvenience, the market needs one smart card which can support a variety of communication protocols and multiple application to solve the problem of cross-bussiness applications.The paper introduces the basic concepts related to the smart card and the T=0, type A and type B protocol, and introduce their respective characteristics too, the paper design and implementate the handshake protocol which is used to establish a connection and data transport protocol, and the anti-collision. finally the paper will use the Samsung S3CC9G8 chip platform to complete the communication module's design and implement,the module will support T=0 protocol, type A and type B protocol, so the card which uses this module can support a variety of communication protocols, and then solve the problem of cross-bussiness applications in the smart card.At present, the communication module has been applied in mutiple smart card products, for example:the bus card, the citizen identify card, the bank card, the social security card and other product.
