Because smart card has the specialties of smart, easy to carry, security, it is widely used for data access. With more and more fields using smart card, smart card is required to provide more type services and to support more complex functions. Based on the development of micro-electronic technology, the memory capacity of smart card is becoming larger and larger, the CPU speed of smart card is becoming faster and faster. More complex communication protocols are designed and implemented. With the development of hardware technology, the card operating systems and applications are becoming more and more complex and powerful. Many technologies, such as micro-electronic technology, system design, cryptography, biotechnology are included in smart card technologies.How to provide cross-industry services in one smart card is the main object of this paper. Aimed at the needs for smart card of different industry fields, based on the last development of smart card technologies, many technologies such as the system prototype of multi-application, the designing of card operating system, the management of life cyclic and card content, the new security protocol are studied.The following results are achieved at this dissertation: (l)Aimed at the different fields' needs of smart card, considered the specialty of current smart card technologies, a multi-file-system card operating system prototype is proposed. (2) Java card multi-application card operating system technology and the reference mode of SUN Microsystems inc. are studied. The system framework, the key module and the implementation are optimized. An improved system module is designed. (3)Mobile communication field is the most successful field using smart card, UICC (Universal Integrate Circuit Card) platform of the 3G network is a multi-application platform, which let the role of SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) total changed, it became the platform to issuer new applications, the features and specifications of UICC platform and java card platform are compared, an prototype using java card technology to implement UICC platform is implemented. (4)The multi-application system whose representative is java card technology brings on platform opening, which causes the security threaten of the card, new security responsibility for the card issuer, application provider, COS development is required. The series specialties of GlobalPlatform provides a framework for card management, and based on the learning of GlobalPlatform, a protocol for java USIM card content management is implemented. (5)With the EMV ( Europay Mastercard Visa ) relocation, smart card is widely used in the financial, and bank card is used for saving private information, during the transaction, smart card and back system must on-line, which makes the system inconvenient. Based on the study of current electronic cash protocol, a new off-line electronic cash protocol is proposed which based on the last smart card technology, implemented the practicality of electronic cash.
