"Food" is most relevant to our daily lives, from which issuing the implicit demands that is unlimited. In the course of meal, we often encounter such problems:the old menu; many new dishes are not listed; no ingredients so we don't know which kinds of meat or fish are used; if some raw materials not suitable for own consumption is included; specialties chef has left but the dish has still listed on the menu that no one can cook the dish; told by the waiter that there is no raw materials after you have ordered a lot of dishes; in a hurry but you are told that the dish you ordered requires a long cooking time; your dishes have been put on the wrong table and etc. such kinds of problems often bring out inconvenience and even angriness to guests. Sometimes, under deep thinking, the active introduction of information management into the current management pattern should play a significant role in the solution of these problems. That is how the concept of electronic recipes is produced.In this article, first discusses the limitation of traditional memu, gives out the new management method of menu, the electronic menu system. Second, comfirms the possibility of implementation of electronic menu system, by using Wi-Fi and other wireless communication technology to transfer data. Then analysis the main business of modern catering industry, discusses main function of electronic menu system should have. Third, design the electronic menu system in database, software module and hardware. After all, this article gives an implementation and outline of the system.The kernel of design is formalizing service flow by using information technology, satisfying customer, increasing work effects and service quality, and decreasing hard working.Electronic menu system is based on B/S architecture, using MSMQ to make asynchronous message exchange, using Ajax to decrease client's response time, and use tablet PC as mobile service device. It contains more information than paper menu, and easy to find which one is yummy for customer. The detail order information will be sent to cooks via wireless network, refresh as soon as new order or change is happened. Customer will feel glad at using mobile device to order delicious food. The electronic menu system will help catering company to improve its competitiveness.
