With the development of computer technology, instrumentation industry is experiencing an upheaval.Virtual Instruments as a modern instrument a major development direction in the measurement and control are unmatched power and flexibility, and now as a major alternative to traditional instruments, in scientific research and industrial production are widely used. Powerful computer processing and display capabilities, it can in the data collection, analysis and expression in any one aspect of the instrument to enhance performance. Virtual instrument represented by the new equipment has changed the traditional instruments of thought,full use of powerful computer hardware and software resources,the computer technology and measurement techniques closely together, which integrates electronic measurement, signal processing, computer and network technology, a new measuring instruments, due to low cost, easy to use the advantages have been widely used.In this paper, the United States National Instruments,Inc.(hereinafter referred to as NI company) developed by LabVIEW8.2 for software development platform to NI USB-6009 data acquisition card for the hardware development platform, try to develop a multi-function virtual digital oscilloscope. Instrument hardware collection by an external signal, through software programming to achieve the instrument display and measurement functions. Compared with traditional oscilloscopes, in the functional use has been greatly improved, in addition to traditional analog oscilloscopes for waveform acquisition and display functions, but also allows the signal filtering, spectral analysis, parameter measurement, data storage and playback functions, with features easy expansion, the development cycle is short and so on.This paper introduces the virtual instrument, as well as the research background and significance of progress in a number of studies at home and abroad. Then on the virtual machines in general provides an overview and discussed the concept of virtual instrumentation, composition, characteristics, development, and established the basic framework of the virtual instrument. And then an important component of the virtual oscilloscope-data acquisition system are discussed. On this basis, carried out a virtual oscilloscope system design, which is the focus of this article. This section describes the design of the virtual oscilloscope program, and gives the detailed design of each functional module as well as the overall scope of each module in accordance with the functional integration. Finally the virtual oscilloscope conducted system testing.By way of illustration of the LabVIEW several ways to achieve network communication:TCP/UDP communications technology, remote access technology, DataSocket technology, and realize a virtual oscilloscope, a remote network communications. The results show that the oscilloscope designed to meet the general engineering testing, has a certain practical value.
