| At present, the population of rural areas still accounts for a considerable proportion in China. In the future, the quality of the population is closely correlated to the improvement of the educational quality in the rural areas. Therefore, the education status in the rural areas has been much-talked-about by people of all social groups. Some policies to improve education status for rural areas have been promulgated and implemented. All these positive sides are worth affirming and developing.This thesis is an empirical research focused on the biological teaching status in the middle schools of Yangshan county, which is the mountain area in the north part of Guangdong province. Through investigations of the biological teaching in rural schools, the purposes of this study are:1) to provide some feedback information of effect of the new curriculum reform in the rural schools for educational departments and relevant personages; 2) to provide some information and suggestions for biological teachers and other educators of all circles of the society; 3) to provide some suggestions for education reform and education development in the rural areas in the future.The investigation in this study was performed in two aspects. First, the situations of students' learning and teachers' teaching in biological course were collected by questionnaires to students. Second, in order to confirm the biological teaching situation in the rural areas, some teachers were interviewed. After analyzing and discussing the data and information, the conclusions were as followed:1. Students had clearly learning interests and learning motivation for Biology course. However, there were some disadvantages, such as lack of confidence, the interest being susceptible to negative factors and fluctuation, confused learning target, learning habit and perseverance being supervised, left-behind students'lack of regulated and the boys'obvious laziness. 2. Although teachers have rich experience in teaching skill, there were still some serious classroom teaching problems. More specifically, these problems were as follows:the effectiveness of biology concept program was not high; experiment teaching failed to enforce on; teaching effect on scientific knowledge comprehensive and expanding was not enough well; the efficiency of students' autonomous learning was not high; biology teacher' teaching design differed from their teaching ability.3. Teachers'professional level improved slowly, and their scientific knowledge and abilities are not paid attention to in middle school. Teachers have less successful feelings in their professional position.4. Teaching resources are obsolete and deficient. The specific performance: experimental equipments and teaching apparatus are obsolete, the funds are not enough; Multimedia classrooms are less equipped. Extracurricular reading materials are obsolete and insufficient.Accordingly, related suggestions are put forward:1. To strengthen the implementation and supervision of the regular biology teaching activity in the countryside junior middle school and ensure the implementation of experimental teaching. To strengthen the validity of biology teachers'lesson preparation, pay attention to the teaching design.2. To improve teaching efficiency, the first is to improve the effectiveness of biological concept teaching; explain carefully and ensure plenty of practices, pay attention to the training of students' learning ability.3. To perform diversified teaching activities, and pay more attention to the knowledge's transmission and application. Penetrate the STS education idea reasonably and cultivate students'correct scientific attitude and life values; Implement comprehensive practical activities to strengthen students' scientific knowledge and comprehensive utilization ability. To further explore the way of developing indigenous curriculum resources.4. To care for students' psychology, and cultivate students' autonomous learning ability; to pay attention to the students' psychological health development. To stimulate students' interest in biology study, train students' correct learning motivation. To teach students according to their situation, on basis of the trend that the number of rural students decrease to explore individualized education road and develop the potential of students; to cultivate students' autonomous learning ability, method and perseverance.5. Strengthen the professional development of biological teachers in the junior middle schools of countryside. Promote the exchange and learning, and strengthen biological teacher' professional knowledge and ability of giving lectures; Build and carry out the mechanism to improve the comprehensive quality of junior middle school teachers; Pay attention and improve rural teachers' professional achievements.6. To improve biological teaching equipments and resources of junior middle school in the countryside. |
