Self-efficacy of career decision denotes individuals'degree of confidence that they can successfully engage in tasks associated with making a career choice and with commitment to a career. College students are faced with psychological stress when making career decisions; therefore, the improvement of their self-efficacy of career decision is of great significance in order to maintain their mental health. This thesis makes a statistical analysis of the self-efficacy of career decision among over 300 students in Jinlin University, Northeast Normal University, Changchun University, Changchun University of Chinese Medicine, and Jilin Agricultural University. This study aims at a comprehension of the overall level of college students'self-efficacy of career decision, analyzes its differences with regard to demographic factors including genders, grades, home places and disciplines, and discusses the relationships between college students'parents'nursing patterns, self concept, and professional efficacy. The results show that:1. In general, the self-efficacy of career decision of college students is high. There is a significant difference in self-efficacy of career decision between ganders, grades, and disciplines, but no significant difference was observed between students from two different home places.2. The overall level of college students'self concept is high. There is significant difference between genders and different grades, but there is no significant difference between different home places and different disciplines.3. No significant difference was observed either between home places or between genders.4. College students'self-efficacy of career decision and their self concept are in apparent and broad correlation, that is, the total scores of self concept are in positive correlation with all the dimensions of self-efficacy of career decision.5. With regard to parental nursing styles, warm feelings and understanding from the parents are in positive correlation with both self concept in the positive dimensions and self-efficacy of career decision in all the dimensions; while punishments, harshness, rejection and denial from the parents are negatively related with self concept in all dimensions except self identity.Based on the results, this thesis puts forward three feasible proposals to the school, the family and college students themselves respectively in the hope that students'self-efficacy of career decision can be improved. The proposals are as follows. 1. The school should make arrangements in both the academic department and the department of student administration, hence the two sides can make joint efforts to improve students'self-efficacy of career decision.2. The parents should establish a harmonious atmosphere in the family and provide the children with sufficient attention and affirmation.3. College students should enhance their competitiveness in job seeking and set concrete and practical employment objectives. |
