Objective: Evaluate the clinical efficacy of self-prescription of traditional Chinesemedicine with retention enema for the capillary bronchitis (phlegm-heat obstructing lungtype). This study was aimed to prove the feasibility of this method to apply this methodwidely in clinic.Methods: During August2010and December2011,60patients Jilin Province Hospitalof traditional Chinese and Western medicine pediatric therapy areas were divided intotreatment group and control group under random control principle. Each group contained30patients. Control group were given anti-infective, oxygen uptake, strengthen nutrition supporttreatment, such kind of foundation treatments and so on while treatment group retainedself-prescription of traditional Chinese medicine with retention enema besides abovefoundation treatments, seven days for a course of treatment, continuous observation of two orthree courses.Results: Results from statistically analyzing the before and after treatment data showedretaining self-prescription of traditional Chinese medicine with retention enema achievedbetter clinical efficacy. The treatment group of30cases: clinical cure in20cases, markedlyeffective in6cases, effective in3cases, invalid in1case. The total effective rate was93.33%.The control group of30cases: clinical control in13cases, markedly effective in6cases,effective in7cases, invalid in4case. The total effective rate was86.67%. Weight, body massindex, measurements of the chest, waist and hips, and physical and chemical examination oftreatment groups before and after treatment had significant effect. Treatment effect of mainand minor symptoms on the aspect of treatment group of treatment group was better thancontrol group.Conclusion: The efficacy of self-prescription of traditional Chinese medicine to retainthe enema treatment was positive, without no obvious toxic side effect, is a kind of effectivetherapy.
