Double J ureteral stent (pigtail tube, or D-J tube) is generally applied onthe operations of urinary surgery, used for the curative process of the operationincluding of renal calculus, ureteral calculus, nephrohydrosis, renaltransplantation, benign tumors of kidney and ureter etc, the ESWL and thedilation of ureterostenosis. It will make important effect of the draining urine, preventing from the stenosis, conglutination and blockage of ureter afterinserting into the ureter. Objective: To observe the clinical security and validity of solifenacinsuccinate which treats the symptoms of OAB, including of urinary frequency, urinary urgency, nocturia and urge urinary incontinence, resulted from keepingdouble J ureteral stent. Methods: Using the overactive bladder-assess (OABSS),41patientssuffered the symptoms of OAB, including of urinary urgency, urinaryfrequency, nocturia and urge urinary incontinence, resulted from keepingdouble J ureteral stent because of many reasons, were observed. Their gradesof urinary urgency and grades of OABSS which were marked were called thebaseline grade. These41patients were randomized to the treatment group (21patients) and the matched group (20patients) according to the table of randomnumber. The trial was carried on single-blinding. The treatment group hadtaken the oral solifenacin succinate (5mg once daily) from the first day aftertechnique, with or without the food wouldn't affect the results. The othergroup was blank control without any treatment. All the41subjects on trialwere observed until the third day after the operation. The grades, from thetreatment group and the matched group, of urinary urgency and the OABSSwhen the third day of the trial began were recorded. We had also observed the incidence of dry mouth, constipation, nausea, indigestion, blurred vision andother side effects. Using the statistical software of SPSS13.0, we managedand analyzed the results of the trial. First, the data of the trial was designedinto the table of the Excel form. Second, we found all these data weren't thenormality distribution when the data of the treatment group and the matchedgroup were taken into the Tests of Normality, using the statistical software ofSPSS13.0. Last, the Wilcoxon(Mann-Whitney) signed-rank test was appliedto compare the baseline urinary urgency grades, the baseline OABSS grades, the urinary urgency grades on the third day and the OABSS grades on thirdday of the treatment group with the matched group. If P<0.05, we thought thedifferences between them had statistical significance. Results: All the patients had finished their trial, and no one broke downor quitted in the middle. The P value was0.188(P>0.05) using the statisticalsoftware of SPSS13.0to compare the baseline urinary urgency values of thetreatment group with the matched group. And the P value was0.199(P>0.05)comparing the baseline OABSS values of one group with the other. It meantthat the baseline data were not different statistically, the trial effects on thethird day were comparable significance and the trial error was diminished. Both the P values, the results of the Wilcoxon signed-rank test which wasapplied to compare both the urinary urgency grades and the OABSS grades ofthe treatment group with them of the matched group on the third day after theoperation, were0.000(P<0.05). These P values indicated that the differencebetween the double experimental data was significant. The urinary urgencyand OABSS values of the treatment group were less than those of the matchedgroup on the third day after the operation. The trial had showed thatsolifenacin succinate was good for the symptoms of OAB. The third day afterthe technique, the percentage of the trial patients, whose either the urinaryurgency values≤1or the total values≤2(called the nonOAB), of the treatmentgroup was66.7%. However, the percentage of the matched group was only5.0%. During the cure of the21patients in the treatment group, only threepatients had showed up dry mouth, the others hadn't obviously showed up the side effects, for example, constipation, nausea, indigestion, blurred vision etc. There was one patient,65years old, which had happened on the constipationin the matched group, the possible reason was that the function of thegastrointestinal tract in elder people went down. Conclusion: Solifenacin succinate is an effective drug for treating thesymptoms of OAB which resulted from inserting technique of double Jureteral stent. Using for a short time, the medicine wouldn't bring manyobvious side effects.
