Objective The aim of this paper was to study the human resources in primary health services, to find the possible problems and to propose the solutions.Methods The cross-sectional survey method was used to investigate the human resources in primary health services in Suzhou national new and Hi-Tech industrial development zone. The soft of SPSS17.0 was used to analysis the data. The methods of chi-square test, t-test and variance analysis were used.Results The average age of doctors in primary hospital, community health centers, health stations and clinics, nursing homes were 34.84±10.96,37.7±11.58,42.21±15.56 and 37.83±13.94, respectively.The number of male was 817, which accounts for 32.92%, the number of female was 1665,which accounts for 67.08%, and it was significantly different between different groups(P﹤0.05).The number of graduate were 13, which accounts for 0.52%, the number of undergraduate were 493, which accounts for 19.86%, the number of collage were 779, which accounts for 31.39%, the number of college students were 779, which accounts for 31.39%, the high school students were 699, which accounts 28.16%, the number of technical school students were 13, which accounts for 0.52%, junior high school students and below were 361人, which accounts for 14.55%, and it was significantly different between different groups(P﹤0.05). The number of senior professional title, intermediate professional title and junior professional title were 154, 374 and 1302, which account for 6.12%, 15.07% and 52.46%, respectively. It was significantly different between different groups(P﹤0.05). Most of people were clinical and nursing major, which accounts for 67.03%. It was significantly different between different groups(P﹤0.05).The rate of doctor and nurse were 1:1.05, 1:1.24, 1:0.78 and 1:1.11. Conclusion The human resource for health services was relatively reasonable, but there are some problems. Training is needed for doctors and nurses. It is need to explore a reasonable job promotion for human resources in primary health services. Human resource in public health is needed to be strengthened.
