Objective: To study the correlation between the mental health and the different pathology grading in female breast cancer patients.Methods: To make a pathological diagnosis in 76 cases of newly breast cancer specimens. The general conditions and medical history questionnaire, self-rating anxiety scale (SAS), self-rating depression scale (SDS), and Symptom Checklist (SCL-90) questionnaire were used for data statistical analysis, 50 normal subjects as controls.Results: (1) There were 77% patients with different mental health problems in the group of breast cancer patients , which depression and anxiety were significantly higher than the normal control group; (2) The total score on SLC-90 in breast cancer patients were significantly higher than normal control group (P <0.05 ); (3) The total score of SDS in breast cancer patients (62.38±14.16) was significantly higher than the normal control group (40.88±11.05), which also significantly difference (P <0.05 ); (4)In different subgroup of breast cancer patients group ,the score of anxiety and depression in class II and class III group were significantly higher than class I. While, there were no significantly differences between class II and class III group; (5) Regression analysis revealed that the main factores which influence mental of breast cancer patients are age, economic level, educational level, and tumor malignancy.Conclusion: Breast cancer patients with a poor mental health, they are anxietied and depressed, also, the factor score in somatization was higher than the normal control group, its occurrence is closely related social and psychological factors. The degree of malignancy was related to the severity of mental heath problems.
