Objective:To analysis the validation of rehabilitation of prelingually deafened children who received cochlear implant(CI) or wore hearing aid(HA), including the development of auditory perception, speech and intelligence. To study the factors affecting the effectiveness of rehabilitation and the regular pattern of rehabilitation. Methods:According to the age of receiving interventions, the devices and the degrees of the hearing loss,99 investigated prelingually deafened children were divided into six groups (less than 3 yeas old with CI,3-6 years old with CI, less than 3 yeas old and severe hearing loss with HA,3-6 years old and severe hearing loss with HA, less than 3 yeas old and profound hearing loss with HA,3-6 years old and profound hearing loss with HA). The validation of rehabilitation was assessed in different times (3 months,6 months,9 months,12 months,15 months and 18 months) after the devices bengan to work. Results:The longer the rehabilitation, the higher the speech perception score and the speech age of CI or SHA or PHA (P<0.05). The speed of the younger groups (less than 3 yeas old) is faster than the other groups by the time (P<0.05) in the auditory perception and speech. There is no significant diferences of all groups in intelligence. In the first six months, there is a slow progress in the auditory and language, and then a rapid progress was shown. As the time went to 15 months, the speech perception score and the language age between the groups CI and SHA were almost the same(P >0.05), but the variance between the groups of CI and PHA was significant(P<0.05). Refer to intelligence, the results were all in the normal range. As the rehabilitation carried on, the scores in groups of CI and SHA were a bit higher than PHA.Conclusion:1. The intervention in auditory perception should be carried on for prelingully deafened children before 3 years old to relive them from the auditory deprivation. The earlier the interventions are carried on, the better the effectiveness of rehabilitation.2. When the interventions are carried on, the function of rehabilitation of the auditory perception and speech is not linear. We should insist in rehabilitation training at least one year to gain the best rehabilitation. The longer the training, the better the effectiveness of rehabilitation.3. Large power HA or CI are both able to satisfy the need of auditory perception to develop speech when the degree of hearing loss is severe. Refer to the profound hearing loss, the ideal selection is CI.
