The research on driving drum, the most important transmission component of the belt conveyor, has always received great attention. Based on the research of belt conveyor transmission theory, the article analyzed the actual stress situation of the drum, and combined with the actual design experience to summarize the related formula for the structural design of drive drum. By using the ANSYS as the platform, it can secondarily develop a program system. The program system that set the design, modeling and analysis as one entirely called the driving drum parametric design and analysis of conveyor belt. The system can achieve the major functions as follows:(1) Conveyor belt driving drum structure parametric calculating and design. Through bringing in the drum actual operating parameters or taking advantage of the Access table database that the program established to check the drum size to design the drum quickly.(2) Driving drum parametric finite element analysis. It can do the finite element analysis on the drum to see the actual work force.(3) Optimal design the structure of the driving drum; the security that it left in the drum actual design process is often too large resulting in the large structure size of the drum. It can reduce the volume and quality of the drum for optimizing the drum structure.(4) Reliability analysis the structure of the driving drum. The parameters which were entered in the finite element analysis were uncertainty, randomness or fuzziness to some extent. Therefore, it not only verify the reliability of the optimized drum structure but also verify the feasibility of optimization for doing the reliability analysis on the drum.By theoretically designing the structure of the driving drum, and translate it into the ANSYS structural design parameters to parameterized design and analyze the drum. The author conducted the secondary development of ANSYS by combining the advantages of the VB excellent operation interface. The user can design, analyze and improve the drum quickly by using this system. Establish the driving drum parametric analysis system and put the parameterization application to the whole drum design process. It can easily modify and analyze. It is useful for saving design time improving efficiency, and is also important for improve the drum structure.
