Drum brake is one of the most important safety parts of many auto parts. Withthe development of the economy and the increasing requirements on the safetyperformance of the vehicals, improving the efficiency of brake’s work by optimizingthe design process has becoming more and more significant. According to the realneeds of different operation users, and through the using of the integrated PDMsystem to achieve the management of data files of the parts, develope the designplatform oriented on meeting the demand of the operation users, and so as to completethe parts’ rapid development and effective file management.Based on this, this paper achieved the development of drum brake’s secondaryparametric modeling system. Firstly, further researches and conclusions were madeabout the reserach situation and strategies of drum brake’s parametic modeling. Andon this basis, parametric modeling technology and product and data managementtechnology of files were made full of use and raised design methods of secondaryparametric development which based on the rapid development of drum brake’s parts.The researches on the UG/Open API, Visual C++programming development andUG/Grip graphic interative design language provide theoretical basis on the researchof drum brake’s parametric design in its secondary development.In UG NX work environment, making full use of the principles and methods ofsecondary development of UG/open and Visula C++programming design philosophy,through the NX Menu Script module, to customize a personalized menu for thissystem. Through the old UI Style editor module under the work environment of NX,completed the production of human-computer interaction interface and dialog with apurpose of easy operation; Based on UG/open API programming, realized the designand development system of drum brake’s main parts. Meanwhile, this paper alsomade full use of MFC and Access database technology achieved the key parametricdatas’ storage and calls of all mian parts in the system. In this interface, the operationuser can directly input key design parameters or gather corresponding parametervalues in the database which running through the background program to quicklycomplete the establishment of the component model that cater for the operatingrequirements. In addition, in NX platform, based on the MFC, achieved thedevelopment of parts’ model file management system, improved the managementlevel of the operation user on parts file, and optimized the management on operationusers’ accounts and accessing of information, fully improved the efficiency ondevelopig and designing parts.Finally, simplify the processing of the key parts in drum brake designed by NX parametric system, through the finite element analysis software ABAQUS, take finiteelement simulation of its whole mechanical performance and get the stress anddisplacement distribution of all key parts, and then analyze the performance of thebrake designed before. Through studying the results of the simulation analysis canprovide data supports and advices for the follow-up studies of designing andprocessing of drum brake.
