Driving drum is the main part of belt conveyor and its structure and properties have important influence on the operation of belt conveyor.Based on the analysis of the force of the light driving drum,the finite element method is used to analyze and optimize the structure of it,so as to establish its new structure,which is of great significance to the popularization and application of the driving drum.The force of the driving drum is analyzed,and a new structure is put forward.Design of experiments optimization module has been used to optimize the new driving drum.ANSYS is used to analyze the transient dynamic of the new driving drum,and its maximum equivalent stress cloud pictures and maximum principal stress time history in different work environment is obtained.The rain-flow counting,the load extrapolation and superposition of the maximum equivalent stress time history of the dangerous area of the driving drum has been executed by using Rainflow module in n Code Glyph Works.Based on the relative theory of fatigue life prediction,Stress Life Module has been used to analyze the fatigue life and fatigue sensitivity of the driving drum.Damage histogram of the driving drum,and the minimum fatigue life curves of the driving drum under the different inputted parameters have been obtained.The results show that the driving drum has a good mechanical property,the minimum fatigue life of the driving drum is about 783 days to meet use requirements.The overload and residual stress have obvious influence on the fatigue life of the driving drum.The improvement of the type of driving drum has a certain commonality.The combination of VS2010 and Creo2.0 Pro Toolkit were used on secondary development of the new driving drum,obtaining a friendly interactive parametric program.The maximum stress of the improved driving drum is reduced by 6.5%,and the mass is reduced by 40%.So the production cost is saved.The improvement of this type of driving drum has a certain commonality.The light weight analysis and the optimization results have certain reference value to the design of the driving drum.
