With the development of the integrated circuit technology and its engineering application, the scale and the level of electronic circuit design has been increasing, and also, the system design has been innovating. Then it makes the subjects of Information and Information processing develop rapidly, including FPGA (Field Programmable Gates Array), the FPGA is in the front of the revolutionary digital signal processing technology. This subject designs an actual project with the FPGA chips. As the chip to be a platform, it completes corresponding function of a muzzle Doppler Radar processing system. As a receiver, to be digital is an effective way to improve the performance, also it is the inevitable requirement of today's society, so this paper uses a structure of the software radio theory, it can completed the receiver's requirement of digitization effectively; And in order to improve the system's interactivity and instantaneity with the environment, it builds a system based on FPGA chip successfully. It proved that can be flexible,efficient and low cost to finish the Doppler Radar system design.This paper introduces the principle of the muzzle Doppler Radar system, puts forwards a effective plan of the Doppler signal digital processing. It completes the Digital Down Convert of the intermediate frequency signal, the FFT processing and through the system building on the FPGA chip, it calculates and transfers the spectrum information. According to the Doppler principle, get the speed values from the spectrum information and shows in PC finally. After repeated testing of the system and the continuous improvement, the result with the theoretical comes to be coincide, it shows that the system can accomplish the task of velocity measurement of a shell leaving a rifle.
