Green residential area is an important part of urban green space system. It is nearest to people, closely related to lives of the residents, and also an important factor for constituting high-quality living environment. With our continuous improvement of people's living standards, the status of green landscape plants in residential area grows, which has also become a popular and important criteria of assessing the merits of residential area. High ratio of green space and green rate is not equivalent to high quality landscape plants. Only with reasonable form of plant configuration and design ,we can build a high quality landscape, in order to beautify and clean living environment, also improve the overall quality of residential areas.In this dissertation, we select three representative multi-storey and high-rise High-grade residential areas in Hangzhou as cases. Based on the investigation in the field, we divide plant landscape of residential areas into residential public green space, green space around the house, the road green space and the subsidiary green space. In three residential areas, we conducted a real investigation of plant species, landscape plant space and so on. From the view of science and art, we investigated and analyzed these instances by the approach based on Landscape Planning and science, community ecology, ergonomics.According to records of instances of data, we summarized the characteristics and skills of high-quality residential landscaping plants in Hangzhou. First, the West Lake affected plant landscape of Hangzhou residential areas deeply. Second,we built a comfortable living environment by appropriate methods and techniques of landscaping in different areas, in order to meet the different needs of the residents. Third, most of the designers put a lot of emphasis on coordination and harmonization of the relationship between architecture and landscape. Fourth, the overall design style is diversified, including the western and oriental style, classical and modern style, in order to meet the needs and preferences of different groups. Fifth, native tree species and quality of plant resources used properly and reasonably in the maximum extent. Meanwhile, the alien and new varieties of plants can be reasonably selected. Sixth, the plant landscape achieves the expected effect by proper maintenance and management.
