The data-exchange between different systems in shipbuilding industry has a lot of difficults. There are a large number of technical defects when using the traditional point-to-point models of information exchange in actual production. Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data (STEP) is a national standard which is independent of any specific system. Standard Data Access Interface (SDAI) is a standard realization of STEP, which is suitable for data exchange and integration between heterogeneous systems, In order to eliminate the isolated information island and realize ship data integration between different systems, a method of ship data exchange based on SDAI was proposed in this thesis. Finally, a system implementation architecture for ship data exchange between TRIBON and SPAR was developed, and prototype system was implemented.Firstly, STEP in shipbuilding and SDAI was analysed. The analysis consist of composition and structures of STEP in shipbuilding, application range and model architecture of AP218, realizations of STEP and structures of SDAI. A solid theoretical foundation for future work was mentioned.Secondly, key technologies of data exchange system based on SDAI was discussed. The studys consist of rules from EXPRESS to Relational Database, rules of hull entity description, realization of SDAI in shipbuilding.Thirdly, the data structures and databases of TRIBON and SPAR was was analysed. Under the data exchange requirements of two systems, a implementation system for ship data exchange between TRIBON and SPAR was developed. Finally, the prototype system was implemented and the steps of specific operations in this prototype system was introduced. And the verification of this system was finished.
