Data Extraction From The Tribon Product Model And The TRIBON Development

Tribon is a ship-building software developed by Sweden Tribon Solutions AB. It is a computer-assisted ship design and construction system with three-dimensional entity models, strong mutual functions, and data sharing, known as a manufacturing expert systems. This software has been widely used in middle-scale and large-scale shipyards since former CSSC considered Tribon as the software for production design in 1995. But its database can only be applied within the system, hence greatly hindered the development of comprehensive informationization in ship-building enterprises.Considering the actual use in our country, this paper mainly introduced in details several methods of data extraction-that is to collect information from the models to meet the production requirements. It included the geometry macro language, Python script, COM—OBJECT method, SX700 terminals inquiry procedures, and report generation devices.Based on data extraction, through the PDI interface in Tribon system, this article developed user procedures. Creating tables in Oracle database, through the user application procedures and the PDI interface, we can store the data extracted from the TRIBON model in the Oracle database, and then to facilitate information collection from this open database.At last, applying some components of Tribon database in Excel, we developed some application procedures in VBA, such as auto accessories generation procedure, the pipe installed components statistical procedure, and the outfitting installed with tray table procedure,and so on, in order to satisfied the actual production needs.
