The structural overall damage depends on the structural detail damage degree and distribution. The method from the overall or the storey information ignores the detail damage information, which leading to the evaluation result is not accurate enough. The structural damage evaluation method based on the member scales is the method to obtain the structural overall damage state through the research of different kinds of members'distribution model and evolution process in the whole structure. The way is to evaluate the overall structural damage state through considering several different scales information which can fully reflect the partial damage reactions to the whole structure.In view of above questions, the paper puts forward a frame-core tube structural members and overall earthquake damage evaluation method, and do the research as followings:(1) The research about structural story model based on member scales.Through the normalized plastic material energy can get the member damage distribution coefficients, which can be used to study the distribution patterns and the development process of various members ,and also can be used to analyze the relatively weak parts in the structure.(2) Put forward the assessment damage method for different kinds of members.Consider the similar members in one floor as a whole research object, and choose the material damage of concrete as damage index to research the way to get the macroscopic damage of members from the microscopic material damage. For different kinds of members have different mechanism and failure characteristics, the different calculation methods should be adopted to obtain their respective member damage.(3) Establish the transition from member damage to structural overall damage.The importance is dissimilar for different members in an entire structure. The damage contributions of different kinds of members are also different to the whole frame-core tube structural damage. Therefore, it is reasonable to classify the members and adopt different weighting coefficients according to their respective importance in the entire structure. The weighting coefficients is obtained by the iteration way. This paper establishes the conversion relationship from different kinds of members to the whole structural damage index by weighting method, and gives the damage status quantitative.(4) The test comparative analysis of the structural damage evaluation method based on member scale.The proposed damage evaluation method is applied to a shaking table test model which is obtained from a practical frame-core tube structure. Compare the damage assessment results and the shaking table test results. Finally, find out both the damage evaluation results of the members and the structural overall information are almost identical. It means the method proposed in this paper is correct and feasible.
