The buildings in accordance with the current code for seismic design of building ensured the safety objective of"no collapsing with strong earthquake"in general, but the structural damage of the buildings caused by earthquake was extremely serious in recent years. The functions of buildings were basically lost, and the repairs were difficult. Elastic-plastic time history analysis is the most accurate method to simulate the complicated seismic behaviors of the structure at present. But a series of problems will be resolved such as the concrete material model, element selection, results assessment. Some issues in the elastic-plastic time history analysis for frame-core tube structure are studied, and a seismic performance assessment method based on damage factors of components is proposed in this paper. The following research is included on referencing home and abroad existing research literature.(1)The method for elastic-plastic time history analysis using ABAQUS and the solutions of some issues are studied by a frame-core tube structure with 120 meters.(2)A seismic performance assessment method based on damage factors of components is proposed. And the concrete operation procedures of this method and its advantages are illustrates.(3)Elastic-plastic time history analysis of an actual engineering structure is carried out. The seismic performance of this structure is assessed and some suggestions for the structural design are given.
