The standard seismic design method is to design a structure based on the principle of three level which means that structure will be designed under frequent earthquake and checked under rare earthquake. And this method is difficult to grasp the performance of structure under rare earthquake. Therefore, this dissertation adopts the idea based on the response of structure that under the action of rare earthquake. It is analyzed that the damage mode and internal force distribution of frame core tube structures under rare earthquake, and study on the relationship of the damage of components and damage of materials. Finally, it is presented that the seismic design method of frame core tube structure based on the expected damage.Study on the expected damage between components of frame core tube structure. Based on the result of FEM analysis of frame core tube structures. The damage distribution pattern of structure is cleared. Extraction method based on a simplified damage was used to determine the damage of structure component which cleared the damage distribution of components of each floor. And the method to calculate the damage of component by floor damage of component have been received.Study on expedted damage of frame core tube structure. Based on the result of damage of each components. The relationship between damage of whole structure and damage of whole component can be received. Thus, the method to calculate the expected damage of components based on the expected damage of is realized.Study on the seismic design method based on the expected damage of frame core tube structures. On the basis of the method to calculate the expected damage of component by using the expected damage of structure. The components of structure can be divided into bending type and shear type. For the bending type components, the reinforcement value can be calculated by the balance between the force of concrete and steel bar of normal section. For the shear type component, the reinforcement value can be calculated by the balance between the force of concrete and steel bar of oblique section, the seismic design method based on the expected damage of normal frame core tube structures will be received by comprehensive two methods abovementioned. Finally, compared the method of standard and the proposed method by using the dynamic history analysis. Compared the two design result under rare earthquake by multiple indicators. Verified the efficient of the seismic design method based on the expected damage of frame core tube structures.
