There are luxurinace waterpower resoucres in China, and the water conservancy and hydropower project has broad prospects. With the deepening constantly of our country's reform and opening up to the outside world and joining the WTO, Chinese domestic construction maket faces with challenge from the international, and the international popular as well as new improved project management models are adopted in China. During the last stage, three rules on the consturction management models were set up, which include the project entity responsibility rule, the bidding and tendering rule and the construction supervision rule. Upon setting up of these rules, frame of construction managerial system was formed, and the reform of hydropower project construction managerial system was initially completed, and the periodical task for project management model to joint together with the international one was established. Accompany with further deepening of Chinese power system reform and complexity of investment subject, especially with the joining of nongovernmental investment, a new peak on hydropower development is revealed. The current construction managerial system and project construction management models will face unheard impaction. It is foreseeable that more new project management models suiting to Chinese situations will be expedited.This article introduces and analyzes the popular international management models and current improvement, reviews and summarizes the reforming career of Chinese project managerial system as well as hydropower construction managerial system, concludes the forming history of current hydropower managerial system, and briefly introduces the parallelism contract model. The author expatiates that running with complex models is the requirement of history, and does a research with the different management models on different hydropower projects, especially on the project management models for typical government owned and nongovernmental investment hydropower projects, gives out several models for selecting. Furthmore, with an example of hydropower projects in our country, the author analyses the necessity to found international engineering corporation and project management corporation in China, and puts forward some suggestions on the management models in domestic hydropower project as following:first, the international engineering corporation and project management corporation should be developed; second, the EPC pattern should be widely spreaded; third, the CM pattern should be activity carried out combining with the national condition; forth, the PMC pattern can be adopted boldly.According to the above statements, the author concludes that the traditional project management model should be reformed, and the international advanced management model should be recommended. It is available for more construction management models being adopted on the Chinese hydropower development, and it is necessary requirement for cultivating of international engineering and project management corporations, and it is available to select suitable project management models in accordance with specific conditions of different projects. At the end, the issues that require further study are mentioned.Through the argumentation, the paper can make the employed of project management realize the importance and necessity of the research of the project management model, further more, the introduction and reference of the advanced project management model can improve the competitiveness of the building enterprises of China, and for the building enterprise of our country, there are certain realistic meanings to tackling the keen competition of the domestic and international construction contract market.
