With the development of the science and technology, it is of great importance to carry on Chinese traditional culture and humane attainments of students, in that case, the cultivation of geospatial literacy is having unique value. Geospatial literacy is the central content of geographical teaching. For a long time, because of the traditional education and the lack of supporting facilities, society does not pay enough attention to its cultivation.Meanwhile, Geographical Information System (GIS) has received the domestic and foreign geography experts'attention since the date of its birth. Thus, using GIS as a auxiliary tool to the cultivation of students'geospatial literacy will have extremely value in modern society.On the base of the document research, this paper does research of the definition of geospatial literacy and its components, and also designs a few cases of GIS teaching. The whole paper can be divided into4chapters following the principle of theory to practice. Chapter1, preface, mainly introduces background of the geospatial literacy research and current research situation in home and abroad. It also discusses the definition of geospatial literacy and the chief contents of the paper; Chapter2mainly discusses five modes of using GIS in middle school curriculums and the influences that GIS may bring, including teaching and learning, teaching method, content of teaching and organization of teaching; Chapter3,the teaching plans of cultivation of students'geospatial literacy by the use of GIS. The contents include7th grade's knowledge, such as "administrative division","railway transport" and senior one's knowledge, like "distribution of population". It introduces how to organize the teaching by using GIS in detail; Chapter4, summary and future work to be done. It makes a summary and points out the innovation and deficiency of the research.
