Nowadays, a sustainable view of production and lifestyle is expected to be established when more and more people realize that population, natural resources, environment and society should be in an integrated and harmonious system. With rapid development of Geography Science and broad application of geography information technology, geographical curriculum reform of high school education faces new challenges and roles. The profound curriculum reform of primary education has incorporated geography information technology to officially become a part of geographical curriculum in high schools. Geography teachers are taking a major responsibility for providing high school students' the ability to implement geography information technology. As a major source of cultivating geography high school teachers, the Geography Science Department of higher normal colleges and universities plays a critical role in the development of effective educational systems to provide teachers with improved teaching skills of geography information technology.In this dissertation, the author takes Jiangsu Province as an example. Jiangsu Province is located in Eastern China and exhibits a booming economy, culture, science, technology and education. The dissertation begins with an introduction of geography science and the latest trends of geographical education. Based on the survey of the current situation of geography information technology education in higher normal colleges and universities, the author compares different undergraduate curriculums and programs of geographic education. With regards to Geography Curriculum Criterion in high schools, the author analyses current problems and possible causes of geographic education in high school. In addition, the author discusses teaching strategies of geography information technology from the different aspects, such as academic ideas and thoughts, learning objectives, curriculum schedule, teaching resources and ability, and students' studying habits. In the discussion, the author emphasizes how to create an effective way to improve the education of geography information technology and the feasibly of geography information technology application.
