Open Source Gis Development And Applied Research

Modern science and technology have been developing rapidly, with the application of GIS technology and popularization, GIS gradually from professional application to the public. Open source GIS is a crossover technology which formed in the process of open source software and the GIS development. The development of Network GIS, Grid GIS, WebGIS, mobile GIS, Geospatial Information Sharing, GIS interoperability, and other fields all need open concept, open standards, open technology. Open Source GIS is a spirit of openness that injects new vitality for the development of GIS. Except open source code, open source GIS also uses open concept, open standards, and created the prosperity of open source GIS in the open environment.Based on the analysis of the open source GIS present research situation at domestic and abroad, from the desktop, open source GIS database, open source GIS library, open source WebGIS perspective, it introduces the function of mainstream open source GIS software, development, characteristics etc., to provide the reference for choosing appropriate open-source GIS software used in application. Meanwhile it introduces the OGC standards and open source licenses. Then analyzing the application for GeoServer, PostGIS, SharpMap, World Wind and other open source GIS software, it takes examples of the application. And SharpMap, World Wind and other open source GIS software system structure, core modules are studied, which provides the expansion and further development of ideas for these software features, and lays the foundation for integration between the software. Finally, using the open source GIS resources developed prototype system, the system has a spatial database server, two-dimensional, three-dimensional combination of client and server, which supports of the release of massive data, the commonly used raster and vector data read, visualization, through WMS, WFS that support open standards to access the network of geospatial information resources, with the spatial analysis function, and the system of basic, independence, scalability, portability.Open source GIS is undoubtedly treasure of the GIS research and application, If using this resources effectively, it has very realistic significance to enhance the GIS technology level, saving development costs, shorten the development time and to promote our country's geospatial information industrial upgrading, improving the ability of independent innovation, and to cultivate GIS creative talents of GIS.Smarter Planet, Internet of things, cloud computing and other new technologies has not only a concept. it is gradually into our lives. GIS technology is also faced with innovation. I believe that the intersection of different disciplines will have new application hot spots, which make our lives better.
