Mathematics is a thinking science. Mathematical thinking is becoming a more and more important education research. Generally, in people's mind, mathematics is abstract, and mathematic activity is abstract too. In the teaching, as we emphasize the training of abstract thinking, we ignore the importance of image thinking. As a matter of fact, image thinking and abstract thinking play the same role in mathematic learning and the forming of thinking ability. To the vocational students, they are lack of mathematic thinking ability, mathematic learning interest, and they are good at image thinking. Therefore, image thinking ability of the vocational students should be enforced, generally, improved to the training of abstract thinking.This essay first introduces the definition of mathematic image thinking and investigates the feature of it. The feature is indirect, general, vivid, logical, gradual, and creative. The mental process is full of representation, association and imagination. It summarizes the function of image thinking in mathematic teaching. The essay analyses that there are four thing progress in the strategy of training methods. Under the guidance of theory, the teaching practice is progressing. Through the progress of practice and result, the importance of image thinking are verified and it implicates the advantages and importance of image thinking. The essay arouses the attention of the educational function of image thinking, enhances the improvement of the students' mathematic image thinking and the combination of abstract thinking. The aims of the essay are to reduce the burden of the students' mathematic learning, develop the abilities of the students' image thinking, improve the thinking structure of the students, and give full scope of the mathematics.
