| The cultivation of thinking ability is a subject with both theoretical and practical significance in the field of engineering mathematics education.As one of the core skills of contemporary education,critical thinking has become an indispensable content in higher education.However,there is not enough attention to the combination of critical thinking and specific disciplines,and there are few systematic theoretical combing and empirical studies on college students’ mathematical critical thinking.This study is a comprehensive study combining theory and practice on the basis of referring to a large number of literature related to critical thinking,mathematical thinking and engineering mathematics education,and combining the current situation and teaching practice of mathematical critical thinking of engineering college students.The research ideas of this paper are as follows: In theory,based on the analysis of critical thinking theory,this paper defines the concept of mathematical critical thinking,enriches its connotation,and analyzes the formation mechanism of mathematical critical thinking.In the empirical aspect,through the critical thinking tendency questionnaire and the mathematical critical thinking questionnaire,this paper investigates the mathematical critical thinking status of engineering students,studies the current situation of mathematical critical thinking of engineering students,analyzes the causes of its formation,and explores the value demands of the cultivation of mathematical critical thinking of engineering college students.Finally,based on the results of the above investigation and from the teaching practice of engineering mathematics,the strategies and suggestions on how to cultivate the mathematics critical thinking of engineering college students are provided.This paper is divided into six parts:The introduction analyzes the background and significance of the research firstly.Secondly,from the connotation of critical thinking,critical thinking skills and measurement,the cultivation of critical thinking,mathematical critical thinking and other aspects of the existing literature and research results are summarized,and the theoretical ideas for further research are put forward.Finally,based on the relevant theoretical premise and foundation,the core concept is defined,and the main content,general framework,research ideas and research methods of this paper are determined.The first chapter carries on the theoretical explanation to the mathematical critical thinking.Firstly,the essence and characteristics of mathematical critical thinking are further elaborated.Mathematical critical thinking is based on general thinking and it has the characteristics of both mathematical thinking and critical thinking.It is a kind of mental ability,a tool to explore mathematical problems,and also a cognitive process.On this basis,the structure of mathematical critical thinking is analyzed from the two dimensions of mathematical critical thinking ability and mathematical critical thinking tendency.Finally,the formation mechanism of mathematical critical thinking and the internal causes that affect the development of mathematical critical thinking are explained,which lays a theoretical foundation for subsequent research.The second chapter is the investigation and research of the current situation of mathematical critical thinking of engineering college students.The survey is divided into two parts: the tendency of critical thinking of engineering college students and the current situation of critical thinking in mathematics.The Critical Thinking Tendency Questionnaire(CCTDI)is a Chinese version of the internationally recognized “California Critical Thinking Dispositions Inventory(CCTDI)”.The Mathematical Critical Thinking Tendency Questionnaire is independently designed based on the characteristics of mathematics and the structure of mathematical critical thinking.The test results are deeply analyzed from three perspectives:understanding of mathematical critical thinking,ability of mathematical critical thinking and tendency of mathematical critical thinking.In addition to the survey,some engineering college students and mathematics teachers in engineering colleges were interviewed.Through the investigation and interview,it is found that the overall level of critical thinking and mathematical critical thinking of engineering college students is low.There are problems in students,such as lack of consciousness of consciously exercising mathematical critical thinking,lack of confidence in reflection and questioning,lack of independent thinking ability,and closed thinking space.From the perspective of teachers,there are problems such as insufficient cognition of mathematical critical thinking and lack of effective methods to cultivate students’ mathematical critical thinking.These problems provide important empirical reference and basis for the follow-up research.The third chapter analyzes the reasons of the lack of mathematical critical thinking of engineering students.This part explores the reasons of critical thinking of engineering students and the lack of critical thinking in mathematics from the aspects of historical and cultural reasons,teaching mode of engineering mathematics,and understanding of mathematical critical thinking of engineering mathematics teachers,so as to help study the cultivation strategies of mathematical critical thinking of engineering students.The forth chapter studies the value appeal of mathematical critical thinking training of engineering college students.Based on the analysis of the quality characteristics and thinking mode of engineering students,this part discusses the necessity and value of cultivating students’ mathematical critical thinking in engineering mathematics education,in order to clarify the educational idea of cultivating students’ mathematical critical thinking.The fifth chapter discusses the main ways to cultivate the mathematical critical thinking of engineering college students on the basis of the theoretical research and empirical research of the previous several chapters,and puts forward for strategies to cultivate engineering college students’ mathematics critical thinking from all aspects of engineering mathematics teaching.The first is to set up the teaching objectives that strengthen the thinking cultivation orientation.The second is to construct the course content system with thinking cultivation as the main line.The third is to optimize the teaching methods conducive to the cultivation of mathematical critical thinking.The fourth is to perfect the teaching practice system that exercises the ability of mathematical critical thinking.The fifth is to form the teaching evaluation that effectively feedback the cultivation of mathematical critical thinking. |
