Based On Network Storage Virtualization Technology

Network-based storage virtualization technology has brought a new development for the storage virtualization system model. It let the company has the ability to manage the swelling of the storage data. And through integrating existing storage resources make it more effectively improve the storage utilization of existing storage devices, and ultimately achieving the purpose of reducing storage costs. Network based storage virtualization use fc protocol or iSCSI protocol for their communication protocol. It can integrate different brands of storage devices into a centrally managed storage pool. Network based virtualization technology separate the actual physical storage device and the storage logic. It is responsible for the actual entities to read or write storage data, making storage management more centralized.The main purpose of this paper is to research network-based storage virtualization technology, and design a network-based virtual storage system.The main work of this paper is to design a program of network-based virtual storage system. Using a virtual node for all centralized management of storage devices. The system using iSCSI protocol as the transport layer of the SCSI protocol.This article first introduced the protocols of the storage system. Described the main function of spc-3 protocol, sbc-3 protocol and the iSCSI protocol. And anaylized the frame format and frame field. Then put forward a feasible design of the network based virtualization. At last, implemented the network based virtualization system. And give a suggestion to improve the program through the test results.
