Control of diesel engine speed control system related to sensor technology, communication technology, electronics technology, computer and automation, and many other fields. With the development of microprocessor technology and modern control theory, the intelligent fuzzy controller has been widely used in electronic speed control system. In this paper, fuzzy control method is applied to the engine speed control system, which improves dynamic characteristics of the speed control system.Firstly, I introduced the development of on the diesel engine and speed control system, and fuzzy control is selected as the control method of the speed control system in this paper. After introducing the basic theory of fuzzy control, the next is to set the specific fuzzy rules about the speed control system, based on fuzzy control theory. After that, the design of fuzzy PID controller, according to the three steps of Fuzzy Logic-Ambiguity. After design of Controller is finished, the next step is the whole intelligent hardware design on the diesel engine speed control system, including the speed control module, actuator, A/D module, the keyboard module and display module. In the speed control module, we mainly use the frequency detection method to measure speed, and hardware that comes through the DSP to generate the required stepper motor pulse signal, and then drive stepper motor to adjust the size of the accelerator, so as to control the speed. We use the serial display module LCD module is connected through the RS232 interface and DSP to achieve real-time display of measured data. Next is software design of the system, including overall system flow chart, throttle position detection map and the step motor commutation and the point of sub-flow chart. Finally, using, the software MATLAB as a platform, the thesis makes a online simulation about the fuzzy control. The result shows that using the fuzzy PID control, the system responses faster, the overshoot is smaller, the engine control effect have a significant improvement.
