This paper describes a project to demonstrate the practicality of real-time hardware-in-the-loop simulation testing (MILS) as a technique for the development of turbocharged diesel electronic control systems. It covers the development of the plant model offline, plus a discussion of the steps involved in converting the model to run in real-time, and interfacing it with actual hardware.Firstly the hardware framework of this system was analyzed, the PC as a host for the system platform facilitated the system development. The real time calculation model was developed based on the DSP board for simulation of the turbocharged diesel. The shared memory between the DSP and the host made up the parallel system. For the wholeness of the system, an oil pump characteristic simulator was developed to simulate the effects of parameters in oil pump on the system dynamic response, which made the system completeness. This thesis developed a digital dynamic simulation program for closed loop control system, and made the same implementation in the DSP. The real time calculation capability and simulation precise was studied to guarantee the real-time of the simulation systems.A monitor program was developed to sample the data and display the curve on the host PC platform, and the data can be saved for the future use. User can control the simulation using the monitor program through the communication with the DSP high-speed process board. Finally, the adjustment and test with the Electronic governor in the loop simulation was made, so the system function was proved usable.
