The advances of modern sensor technology, computer technology and wireless communications promote the modern significance of the birth and development of wireless sensor networks. Typical wireless sensor network hardware usually includes sensor nodes, sink node (gateway node) and task manager node. The function of sink node is integrating data from each sensor node and communicating with the outside world. It is implemented based on the embedded system.Based on how to establish a practical wireless sensor network sink node and the NSFC project of "Research on task assignment policies and implementation mechanisms in wireless sensor network", this thesis focuses on the sensor network hardware design principles and energy-saving mechanism, and designs and implements a sink node using high-speed digital circuit design theories and embedded system design process,. This thesis is divided into three parts:1. System outline design: the functional requirements and design principles of sink node is analyzed, which is based on the application of the sensor network and discuss the embedded system hardware and software co-design process. Then, an outline design of sink nodes is created accordingly.2. System hardware: all the hardware module selection and design circuit diagram are identified firstly. Then based on signal integrity and EMC in a high-speed digital circuit, PCB is designed. Finally samples are produced which can get through the hardware debugging.3. System software: general embedded system software components, which include the implement of boot loader and Linux transplantation and driver design, are analyzed. These components are implemented and tested on sink node.
