For modern electronic target detection and recognition, radar pulse parameters test is one of the typical means. Through the test of time domain parameters such as pulse amplitude (PA), time of arrival (TOA) and pulse width (PW) and other parameters of radar pulse signal, combined with further algorithm, we get details of the pulse for location identification of the target. Meanwhile, with rapid increase of the scale and processing speed of the general-purpose DSP and FPGA chips, high-rate and real-time pulse signal parameter test is coming to the world.An FPGA-based real-time parameter test of radar pulses has been designed and implemented in this paper. By the theoretical analysis and computer simulation work the verification has been carried out firstly. In the pulse detection program, the CIC-based decimation filter has been exploited and optimized for lower system resource utilization and higher system speed. Limited by the processing speed in DSP, radar pulse parameters measurement in real time is implemented in FPGA hardware, with the modules such as comparator and computing device implemented in FPGA directly. This scheme simplifies the measurement system greatly and enhances the flexibility. Using parallel computing in FPGA, not only can the requirements of real-time in the operating speed be met, but also improving for the computation accuracy.The thesis completes the logic design and simulation work of the detection and parameters measurement modules, further, including the FPGA-based implementation of the absolute value computing and CIC filter design by MATLAB simulation. Finally, through the test and certification for the hardware environment, the test results of the radar pulse have been shown and discussed in detail.
