As the development of Internet technology and the increase investment in hardware by Network Operator, the Video-On-Demand (VOD) has become a popular area for network applications. On the one side, with the rapid growth of the online VOD user numbers as well as the development of broadband and the broadband streaming media applications, the traditional streaming media content distribution network can not satisfy the need of users. While on the other side, the appearance of the"Peer to Peer"(P2P) technology with the improvement of client's bandwidth and hardware make the client bandwidth become a valuable resource. How to make full use of the client resources and reduce the streaming media server-side load pressure has become one of the hot fields in recent years.In order to meet the needs and solve these problems, this thesis designs and implements PPSDN (Peer to Peer based media Stream Distributed Network). And on the combining the advantage of content distribution network and P2P technology that can both make full use of the client resources and reduce the server numbers and load pressure, also push the media resource closer to the user, which can reduce the response time of client greatly, while the existence of server in content distribution network can avoid the seed-failure, the asymmetry and non-equilibrium problems in file transmission in pure peer to peer network topology.First the media streaming content distribution network is analyzed and introduced, then the P2P network structure and the peer to peer based on the media streaming content distribution network and the load balance strategy in PPSDN is presented. By researching the different load balance algorithms combined with the PPSDN system's real network running environment and existing balance strategy, the strategy in the PPSDN is proposed and implemented. Also the related modules are introduced.The test of PPSDN includes the function and performance. The results demonstrate the integrity of the system, and the accuracy and effectiveness of the strategy. User feedbacks further show that PPSDN can achieve a high performance content delivery.
