Facilities Management Information

With the increasing development in Chinese infrastructure industry and real estate industry, the appearance of abundant properties and various modes of project development and operation makes that the theory of facilities management can be put in practice fully. Facing with fierce competition, it has been a hot topic that how to broaden sources of income and reduce expenditure during the daily FM operation. The integration of phases of life cycle management, project management and facilities management has been paid emphasis on. However, approaches and solutions related have not ever been discussed in China. Meanwhile, the effectiveness of FM IT solution has not been explained clearly yet. Therefore, it is absolutely meaningful to research FM informationization.Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) is used for FM informationization study. The theories of project life cycle management, value chain analysis, and case study are used for the systematic research on facilities management. Firstly, the definition features and main problems of FM are analyzed through plentiful literature review from both scholars and associations, which indicates that informationization is the inevitable trend for FM development. And, general analysis is made for major IT system using in the world. Then, some description is made for the application of FM IT solution in MNCs. At last, the theory of FM informationization is applied for the implementation and usage of ARCHIBUS,1# IWMS in the world, in IBM China.
