Fan culture is a new direction of culture study. Being enlightened by the fan culture study in west countries, this paper is an examination of how media represents anime fans. Using the copies of Guangzhou Daily as study samples, through content analysis and text analysis, the paper explores how powerful relations influence the representation of Chinese anime fans.It is concluded that, the representation of anime fans presents four myths:anime fans are ridiculous, anime fans are passionate followers, anime fans are active producers, and anime fans are loyal consumers. The relationship between anime culture and dominant culture is the most important thing which decides how media represents anime fans, rather than the true image of anime fans. As a result, anime fans don't consider the representation as the true image of themselves. On the contrary, the false representation makes anime fans keep away from dominant culture.
