With the development of the communication industry and the speeding up of the mobile network transmission, the variety of the types of the service, the use of the multimedia and the fineness in service have become the key to attracting the customers in the mobile service. Right now, the mobile Internet gateway is the best way to assist the mobile customers to make better use of the Internet, and the customers can have easy access to Internet as long as they have mobile phones which support the WAP agreement. However, since the network framework the Inner Mongolia Unicom company have now can not put the traditional Internet contents into the mobile terminals in large scale, and there are operating problems like the small screens of the mobile phones and the input difficulties, how to make the mobile terminal better visit the Internet and to adapt the terminal with the contents have become an urgent question. Therefore, WAP 2.0 has been introduced to the development of the mobile Internet gateway. In this paper, firstly, the current situations and problems of the mobile Internet gateway of Inner Mongolia Unicom are discussed, and the necessity of building the mobile Internet gateway system on the basis of WAP2.0 agreement is clearly stated. Based on that, a discussion on the system function of the mobile Internet gateway is performed, and the main procedures of HTTP services, WAP services, MMS services, and terminal adaption service are analyzed. In the following, the framework of the mobile Internet gateway system is studied, and the modular method is used to design in detail the core subsystems including WAP2.0 protocol processing, access control, contents adaptation, and information maintenance of the customers. The design and the implementation of the procedure processing subsystem and the service subsystem based on WAP2.0 are mainly discussed. At last, an analysis is carried out on the scalability and the potential of the system.
