With accomplishment of backbone network of CNGI (China Next Generation Internet), the technology research and product design has been focused on Wireless LAN of CNGI. Based on IEEE802.11g standard and following reference of next generation Internet demonstration project, the thesis gives a design of WLAN mobile terminal in CNGI. It has four parts: RF, Baseband, MAC, platform of software application. The thesis aims at research on MAC layer and presents a design and verification method of MAC system of CNGI.The thesis introduces development of CNGI and its mobile terminals, it also study on MAC layer protocol of IEEE802.11g standard that contains frame format, access mode and privacy mechanism of MAC layer; because of structure of system that MAC system connects system bus as a individual peripheral component, a method about co-work by both software and hardware is presented by the thesis; the MAC system is partitioned into hardware and software parts by functions of protocol, the protocol with real-time response is implemented by hardware, the other is implemented by software; afterwards, we divide circuit into submodules by functions and make those modules coded by verilogHDL language and function verified based on FPGA, then we combine them into integrated MAC system circuit.
