The Researches And Applications Of Wireless Application Protocol

WAP integrates two advanced technologies that are most active in the world - mobile communications and Internet. WAP is designed to adapt to the bounds of wireless networks (such as low bandwidth, high latency, less connection stability and so on) and the bounds of wireless device (like limited input facilities, limited battery power, limited display, memory and CPU). Another characteristic of WAP is that it scales across a broad range of wireless networks and bearers. The bearers can be SMS, circuit-switched data, packet-switched data, and the networks can be GSM, IS-95, GPRS and even 3G.This paper introduces the WAP protocols stack and the model of the WAP application. Then it presents the researches of protocols of WAP: WDP (Wireless Datagram Protocol), WTP (Wireless Transaction Protocol) and WSP (Wireless Session Protocol), and analyze their characteristics of performance. The designing methods and process of Remote Terminal Control System based on WAP are introduced, too. Finally, this paper analyzes the existing problems of WAP applications and predicts the development of WAP applications in the future.Since the researches of WAP technologies have begun in recent years, this thesis has the special meaning in the field of WAP application technology in our country.
