The Period Of The Republic Of The Library Of Social Education

The period of Republic of China is the time when the modern library started and completed. Affected by social education ideological trend, library became one of the social education establishments to enlighten people. In both content and form library had undergone enormous changes which cause the modern library social education thoughts to produce. The paper stands from the view of social education ideological trend to reveal library social education thoughts'basic contents from the theory side and the practice side. It has an epoch-making significance that modern scholars'"open, equal, free" library concept, all types of libraries'construction and varieties of library activities. The article integrally analyzes the library social education theory in the period of Republic of China, gives an objective description of the library activities under the guidance of these theories, evaluates the library social education thought of the period, makes a historical reference for our current library enterprise, in order to enrich the content of modern library science and promote the development of library industry.
