Research And Design Of Modern Distance Open Education Test System Based On Web

The society has gradually entered into the information age since the end of 20th century. As basis of information age, Computer technology, communication technology and multimedia technologies have made a progress at unprecedented pace. As a new form in education area, Modern distance education is associated with the development of modern information technology, build a lifelong education system in the information age and improve the quality of the population. The modern distance education create digital learning environment and promote education reform in educational ideas and education patterns to improve the quality and effectiveness of education to help learners to expose to excellent cultural social values, enhance their learning ability and in the information age.Distance education refers to education form in which students and teachers, students and educational institutions exert a variety of means and multi medias on learning whereas keep "quasi-temporal" separation in time and space in terms of teaching and communication. Modern distance education characterized as "long distance over time and space, extension, flexibility, openness, multimedia-based, networking-orientation", which determine the importance of evaluating the learning process for learners. Formative assessment system is to designed to assess the process of teaching and learning and feedback so as to adjust and improve the quality of teaching.Based on the analysis and study of modern distance education system, the author has developed B/S pattern formative self-test assessment system based on database technology and network technology, which achieve the following functions:(1)links with teaching management platfonn to achieve data sharing and reduce data redundancy;(2)to achieve a number of examination items construction and management(3) to achieve a long-distance assessment and evaluation(4)to achieve implementation of automatic scoring and data statistical analysis(5)to achieve the results inquiry function(6)extensible, easily maintainable This system has been applied in Gansu Radio and Television University and achieved good results.
