In recent years, China accelerated urbanization process. In order to alleviate traffic pressure, major cities have proposed large plans in urban rail transportation. Together with the national launch of the huge economic plan, so that China's urban rail transportation has entered a new situation. Audio and video system of subway train is one of important part in urban rail transportation. With the development of urbanization rail transportation, audio and video system of subway train is constantly incorporating new technology. Design based on IP module and network communicateons capability, which were the main characteristics of this system.First of all, this paper in turn introduces the basic theories of audio and video processing, FPGA-based IP module design and network communications knowledge. Then the kernel architecture of entire passenger information system was given, and the LCD spliter of subway train was introduced in detail. At last, the paper gave the test and the performance analysis.Hardware architecture of LCD spliter included two parts:SDI signal processing subsystem and network communication subsystem. In the SDI signal processing subsystem, the design of FPGA-based audio and video data demultiplexing of IP module, realized with the IP module replacement ASIC. In network communication subsystem, the module of UART to network interface was responsible for accessing Ethernet. Through accessing Ethernet, every LCD spliter could be real-time monitored. Finally, the LCD spliter was made to the actual test and verified, by analyzing the measured waveforms and measuring eye diagram. It was proved that LCD spliter achieved the initial aim and met the requirements of audio and video systems in subway train.
