With the widespread application of the IRST system, it become more and more important that how to realize the method to evaluate the performance of the IRST system with a low cost. This thesis analyzes several parameters that influent the performance of the IRST system, gives the theoretical derivation of their relation with the system's basic parameters. According to this, this paper establishes a series of mathematic model such as that of atmospheric transmittance, operating distance, modulating disk, optical system, and then creates their functions using Visual C++and MFC. A program with an easy using window is built. It can hide the complex relation between these parameters. What need the user to do only left input the value of some of these parameters, the program could give the others. To verify the correctness of the program, there gives some verification of these results by comparing with that of other programs at the end of this article. How to search and track an infrared target automatically is a hard work. Here we simplify this process based on some hypothesis. The target is supposed as a point in a dark background, and in the picture which the system will detect has and only has one target. Then the picture will be processed to let the target easier to be identified by the system. At last, the system gives the performance which react the target's direction.
