This paper analyzes and derives infrared detector distance and its influencing factors. In the derivation process, we introduce three areas, the infrared radiation characteristics of goals with infrared operating range and background, atmospheric transmission for the effects of infrared radiation, as well as the capabilities of infrared detection system. We derive the equation of MRTD with operating range for unknown amount and consider the actual measurement situation, it is to give full consideration for the impact of MRTD with the visual characteristics, optical systems and the external environment, then measure the results of the latter two cases with considering the program or no theoretically calculated. Then infrared detector Catherine-GP for example, we select measurement goals and calculate expression values of detection range of these two cases by programming. The most important thing is to experimental results under the same conditions compares two kinds of results, it proves that the case of full consideration the impact factors is more in line with experimental results. Described in the paper work is meaningful, these factors should be taken into account. Secondly, the paper offers improved direction for designing of the infrared detector.Before overall designing for system and the role of the system may reaching from the forecast,if we give full consideration to the impact of the factors discussed in papers, it will be great significance to improve design standards, reduce costs and shorten the development cycle.
