In the field of oil exploitation, intelligent constructions, under-water detection and mass of military applications, achievement of multi-dimension, multi-parameter, distribution, real time and network sensing measurement is longing pursuit of the researchers nowadays. The Fiber Bragg Grating is considered to be one of the best choices in sensor family, because of its excellent characters, such as good security, strong anti-jamming, simple structure of sensor, compact size, light weight, high sensitivity, long life, and good resistance to electromagnetic interference, erosion, electricity and dampness. In the other hand, the wireless sensor network is the inevitable development of sensor measurement technology. This paper focuses on the design of the wireless sensor network nod and protocol. In this paper, the design is based on the research of principle and development of the node design and protocol research in the world nowadays. The node adopts C8051F920 and CC1100 as its core part, adding DS2786 as the power detection mode, and meanwhile combines the Fiber Bragg Grating sensor that developed by ourselves to form a new type of wireless sensor network node. The node can be used to measure temperature, humidity, stressness, multi-dimension and multi-parameter detection. Based on the nodes and research of the WSN protocols, we design a integral protocol of the WSN, which contains physical layer, MAC layer, routing layer, application layer. The protocol also contains a sleep and wake up part and other methods to reduce the energy consuming. Besides above, the protocol also has improvement in the field of network cluster division, routing arithmetic, topological control and so on. We have applied the protocol to the WSN formed by the nodes designed by ourselves. Both the nodes and the protocol have a good performance in our application. The protocol is proved to be a integrated, effective, low power consuming and high reliable protocol, and this will be the acceleration of the widely use of the wireless sensor network.
