Xiao Pengyou has been founded for 88 years, since April 6, 1922. After a long history full of changes, the magazine is no longer the original one. But the editors and authors are still holding on the dreams that dreamed by the people who founded the magazine.As the longest published magazine in a continuous time and the most influential one of modern children's journals,Xiao Pengyou has witnessed and recorded the developing process of children's literature in China. On October 28, 1937, Xiao Pengyou has ceased publication on the fire of anti-Japanese War for the first time. It has changed its editorial policy and style after it resumed publication. So this paper focuses on Xiao Pengyou in the period from 1922 to 1937.This essay begins with a brief review of the Xiao Pengyou in history, and introduces its editorial policies and the target reader on the foundation time. And then it sums up the magazine's characteristic on editorial and graphic design before the year 1937. Chapter 5 and 6 are the key parts of this paper, which introduce the main writers and their works for Xiao Pengyou of the period 1922-1937, and summarizes that it has a close relationship with the"Children's Literature Campaign"on 1920s. Finally, on the basis of the comparison of another children's magazine"Children's World"in the same period, the writer analyzed the reason of Xiao Pengyou's success, and for what the magazine can maintain such a long time.
